Release Policy
Today, more than anytime in history, dove releases are done with the health and safety of the birds in mind. Dove handlers know that only Rock Doves should be used for releases since they have the capability to return to their homes, their lofts, and their perches. Using doves with no homing ability puts them at risk for loss and danger from predators. Additionally, we have several criteria for our dove releases...

Only well-trained, healthy, pure white rock doves bred from white racing pigeon stock will be released as they have the strength and ability to return home quickly and safely.
Our doves are permanently leg banded with the information that identifies our loft. In the event that one of our doves is found, it can be identified and we can be notified. We will make every effort to retrieve our found dove.
Every event will have at least one experienced and knowledgeable release coordinator present. Our coordinator will wear appropriate attire, arrive promptly as scheduled, and conduct him or her self in a professional, courteous manner. A coordinator ensures that the doves are handled safely and that the display and/or release is carried out as arranged.
Doves will always be released outdoors, in good weather. Excessive temperatures and poor weather conditions jeopardize the safety of the doves and put them in harms way. In addition, since doves need daylight to fly, all releases must take place at least two hours prior to sunset. This ensures that the doves have adequate time to reach home before dark. Shipping birds for self-release poses unnecessary risk to our doves and violates the premise of our policy.
Our coordinator will transport the doves to the release in cages designed for their comfort and safety. It is the coordinator’s responsibility to properly care for the doves and ensure their well-being while at your event.
In the event that a release must be canceled due to acts of nature, a full refund of all fees paid will be given. Cancellations due to other conditions and/or circumstances are subject to refund of the bouquet price minus the 50% deposit.

Terms and Conditions of Release:
Booking:
Booking is based on first come, first service basis with a 50% deposit required to reserve your date and time. Your date is not confirmed until you receive a response by email or phone to confirm your request.

Payment:
Payment is due in full one month prior to your event date with the exception of funerals, memorials, or other more immediate circumstances. You may pay by check, money order, or credit card through Paypal.

Delays:
Our business is built on providing services to our customers in a timely manner. It is possible that we may have more than one event scheduled on a given day. Therefore, should your release be prolonged beyond its scheduled time, a $25.00 charge will be added for each thirty minutes of delay. This charge is due at the time of the dove release/display.

Inclement weather:
We will continually monitor the weather conditions on the day of your scheduled dove release. Often the weather conditions at the release site differ from those at the loft location. Should we determine in advance that the weather would prohibit the safe release of our doves and cancellation in necessary, a full refund will be issued to you. However, if the weather should become inclement after we arrive at the release site and cancellation is necessary, a partial (50%) refund will be issued (in order to defray time and travel costs.) Examples of inclement weather include: thunder, lightening, high winds, heavy rain, ice or snow storms, hail, fog, and extreme temperatures. Dove displays are not affected by inclement weather, unless travel to your event location is restricted.

Cancellation:
Cancellations that take place at least four weeks prior to your event date will result in a full refund being issued to you. In the event that you should need to cancel less than four weeks prior to your scheduled dove release/display, no refund will be issued.

Disclosure:
Lovey Dovey works with live animals and they can be, in spite of training, unpredictable at times. We strive to control these circumstances through proper care, training, and feeding of our doves. To that end, Lovey Dovey is not liable for any damages resulting directly or indirectly from the release or display of our doves. This includes, but is not limited to, soiled clothing, imperfect photographs, or performance issues.

Release:
Permission is given to Lovey Dovey to photograph or video your dove release and/or dove display. Any subsequent photos or footage may be used for advertising or promotional purposes.
